Appears to have long fibers for its bark.
Thin strips can be peeled away.
Needles of the Eastern Red Cedar 29 March 2006
These needles are actually made up of tiny scales (1/16-1/8 inches) that surround a central spine that branches out.

The cone appears like a berry, dark blue in color.
It is approx 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch in size.
Inside are one or two seeds (occasionally 3).
They mature in one year.
